Sock 'n' Buskin Theatre Company

About the Company

In 1942, one year after Carleton University was formed, Sock 'n' Buskin was born. In its sixty-three year history, Sock 'N' Buskin has been a proving ground of sorts for both local and international theatre.

Dan Aykroyd began his acting career with the Company in 1969. Alan Neal, host of CBC Radio's All in a Day, is a former Artistic Director of the company. To top it off, both Third Wall Theatre Company and the Great Canadian Theatre Company have their roots Sock 'nBuskin, as do many other local companies.

The company's executive is comprised entirely of Carleton students. However, our volunteers are from all over Ottawa including Carleton, Ottawa U, Algonquin, Ottawa's many other theatre companies and the community at large. Most importantly, we rely heavily on our volunteers to keep the company running -- without them, there would be no company!
